No matter where we go, we take a Travelling Bear along for luck. Or two.
For example, when we were in NYC last December, we made sure we had Russel the Bear along with us:
He enjoyed the view, along with his pal Matthew:
Here in Mahone Bay we have Philbin Bear, pictured above, and here he is again:
I have been told, always by Big Grumps, that it’s silly to carry bears around for good luck. I hear this every trip we take, and I reject it. Anyway, it’s not like we have a choice, not after they all joined the United Brotherhood of Real and Not At All Stuffed Bears, Local 452, which vastly increased their bargaining power.
Besides, they’re no trouble, usually, though they eat like pigs.
Philbin says he wants to live here:
I do too, sort of. If it has a 62 inch flatscreen.
Luck is a funny thing. You don’t want to mess with it. If we’re going, so’s a bear.
ADDENDUM: Some concern has been expressed that Philbin Bear, above, is all alone on this excursion. Of course this is not the case. Bears travel in pairs, or larger groups. On this trip, stalwart Traveling Bear Russel is along, as well as Parker Bear, outside the home for the first time:
They are quiet at least. I for one like them.🐻
